Adding a Custom Program Step

You can add custom program steps to a substantive audit programClosed The 800 series of forms, whose index number and name are specific for each title. These include AUD-800 Audit Program – (Custom) through AUD-822 Business Combinations. so the procedures fit the needs of your engagement. Custom steps display a Custom tag next to the program step's name when viewed in the Program Steps Library.

Note: If you have selected to include the Program Steps Library from an existing (non-custom) audit area, custom program steps in each form are independent of other forms using the Program Step Library for that audit area. If you add a custom step in one audit program, it is not automatically included in the Program Step Library for the other audit programs.

To add a custom step, do the following:

  1. On the Engagement List, click the engagement.
  2. Open the substantive audit programClosed The 800 series of forms, whose index number and name are specific for each title. These include AUD-800 Audit Program – (Custom) through AUD-822 Business Combinations. that you want to add a custom step to.
  3. Locate the substantive procedure table and go to the program step under which you would like to insert your new custom program step.
  4. Note: To add a custom program step to an audit program where no program steps have been added, click in the Actions column on the row that says “No program steps have been added,” and then select Insert Row in Program Steps.

  5. Click and select either Insert Row Above or Insert Row Below. Two new rows are added to the table.
  6. Enter a brief name for your custom step in the first new row.
  7. Enter the text for the program step in the second new row.
  8. If needed, add a sub-step by clicking and selecting Insert sub row. Enter the text for the sub-step in the row that displays.
  9. Click Submit All KC Changes.
